ORLANDO, Fla. and Las Vegas, NV – Electronic Distribution Show (EDS) – (PR Newswire) – May 14, 2015 – API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a leading provider of high performance RF, microwave, millimeterwave, and power solutions, today announced that it was recognized by technology publisher, Electronic Component News (ECN), with two 2015 ECN IMPACT Awards, presented at a ceremony held last evening during the annual Electronic Distribution Show (EDS) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Judged by a panel of industry experts, the awards recognize outstanding achievement in electronic design and innovation. API Technologies took home top honors in the Oscillators and RF Amplifier categories.

API Technologies’ Radiation Tolerant Voltage Controlled Surface Acoustic Wave Oscillators (VCSOs) provide superior performance at operating frequencies of 350 MHz to 4,000 MHz. They offer an excellent solution for satellite communication systems by providing low phase noise for enhanced system performance in frequency ranges not covered for fundamental crystal oscillators or dielectric resonator oscillators.

API Technologies is the first manufacturer of radiation tolerant VCSOs utilizing a MIL-PRF-38534 Class K certified facility. By employing a domestic, in-house SAW wafer fab, API’s design engineers are able to provide superior quality control resulting in consistently designed high-quality products.

API’s 1kW GaN Solid State Pulsed Power Amplifier is a high performance and cost effective replacement for traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers. The amplifiers' long life, and reduced size and weight offer longer life and improved efficiencies as compared to TWT amplifiers.

The lower voltages used in the GaN-based design also serves to reduce the amount of stress applied to surrounding circuits and components, thereby increasing life expectancy. Solid state devices are inherently more robust against mechanical shock and vibration conditions and offer the advantage of improved performance over extreme environmental conditions.

Applications for API’s GaN-based pulsed power amplifiers include numerous military and high end commercial applications including radar, communication transmitters, and jamming systems.

API Technologies will showcase its line of oscillators and power amplifiers beginning this Tuesday at the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2015).
