Hawki™ Aiming Device for Explosive Ordnance Disposal a Finalist at the CTSS Awards

ORLANDO, FL and GLOUCESTER, England — February 21, 2012 — API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a provider of electronic systems, subsystems, RF, and secure systems for defense, aerospace, and commercial applications, announced today that its Hawki™ Video Aiming Device was named a Finalist in the Improvised Explosive Disposal Devices (IEDD) Category at the CTSS Awards 2012. The CTSS Awards Gala takes place during the Counter Terror Expo 2012 on April 25th in London.

“We are excited to be nominated alongside organizations such as Northrop Grumman, FLIR, and Land Rover – as well as many other companies who are helping keep our world safe with advanced counter terrorism technologies,” said Bel Lazar, President and Chief Operating Office, API Technologies.

The Hawki is a video aiming device that attaches to an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robot’s disruptor/shotgun barrel and utilizes a camera and rangefinder to automatically place crosshairs over the video signal. While approaching a target, the crosshairs adjust the aim point based on the range to the target in order to show the operator the true point of impact for their shot. No calibration is required and no adjustments are needed by the operator to account for the range to the target. The system also displays range to target and tilt angle on the video image to promote a more accurate shot regardless of distance from the explosive device. It is compatible with most EOD disruptors and shotguns -- including the PAN™ Disruptor and the Bennelli M4 Super 90 shotgun. This includes more than 4,000 EOD disruptor/shotguns in the United States and 500 in Europe.

Members of the international counter terrorism and specialist security industries can vote for the Finalists by using the official form at www.ctssawards.com/pages/awards.
