ONKONKOMA, NY — December 2, 2010 — API Technologies Corp., a provider of highly engineered products and services to the global defense sector, announces the availability of the API™ RF Signal Extender. This new product extends the range of Harris Corporation’s SecNet 11® wireless bridge, used by the U.S. military to establish Secure Wireless Local Area Networks (SWLANs). First introduced in 2002, SecNet 11 is an approved standard for both classified and unclassified communication by the National Security Agency and Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.
The API RF Signal Extender boosts the range of SWLANs from 700 meters to up to 5 miles.
API Defense USA CEO Steve Pudles said, "We are very pleased to have brought the API RF Signal Extender to America’s warfighters. In the sort of asymmetrical combat they face, secure and reliable communications are quite literally matters of life and death. The ten-fold increase in distance of the SWLAN means greater safety for our troops and greater potential to succeed in any mission assigned."
The API RF Signal Extender is a highly portable, plug-in amplifier/power supply solution that vastly extends the outdoor range of SecNet 11. The fully ruggedized power amplifier and power supply with bias-T can easily attach to the antenna mount plate on the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.
